Changing Mindset: Learning Acceptance

“Life is full of irony. Cats love to eat fish, yet they cannot swim; fish love to eat earthworms, yet they cannot come onto land. ” Isn’t life just like this? Gaining and losing, choosing and letting go. Life is never all smooth sailing, and things don’t always go as planned. Therefore, it’s not worth comparing yourself to others, as it’s not worth it; it’s not worth being too hard on yourself, as it’s painful; it’s not worth dwelling on the past, as you can’t go back. Everything comes with regrets, but everything also has its worth. We need to learn to accept, to live well, to be content with what we have, and to be indifferent to what we lose. Let everything happen naturally.

Think about it, isn’t life just like this? Choosing and letting go, gaining and losing. Cats like to eat small fish, but they can’t catch them in the water; fish love earthworms, but they can’t dig for them on land. Many things in this world are like this, a twist of fate, beyond our control. What we desire often eludes us, and what we have is often lost inadvertently. The person you love may not love you back, while someone who loves you might not even be on your mind. When we were young, we longed for poetry and distant places, but with empty pockets, we had to put those dreams aside. And when we finally have the means, we find ourselves constrained, with no time left.

Life is never all smooth sailing, and things don’t always go as planned. In this worldly life, there is value in everything, but there are also regrets. Many things cannot be achieved through effort alone, and love doesn’t always last forever. After half a lifetime, we come to understand that dissatisfaction is the norm of life. Most of the time, we need to make choices and sacrifices. But no matter what we choose, there will be regrets. Therefore, the most important thing to learn in a lifetime is acceptance.

Acceptance is the beginning of making everything better. What truly makes a person strong is not resistance, but acceptance. Accept loneliness and setbacks, accept giving without returns, accept things not going as planned, and accept all imperfections. When there’s a problem, solve it; when there are emotions, ease them.

Eight or nine times out of ten, life doesn’t go as we wish. Why make ourselves unhappy because of it? Don’t always dwell on regrets and dissatisfaction, and refuse to forgive yourself. When we constantly seek outside, wanting to change others, we only increase our endless worries. Only by seeking within, learning to change ourselves, can we grow and find inner peace. Therefore, it’s not worth comparing yourself to others, as it’s not worth it; it’s not worth being too hard on yourself, as it’s painful; it’s not worth dwelling on the past, as you can’t go back.

Life is unpredictable. Those who live happily are not the ones whose lives go smoothly at every turn, or who are lucky in everything. It’s those who understand and reconcile with reality and with themselves. Change what can be changed, accept what cannot be changed, and always remain optimistic and look forward.

In many things in life, misfortune may lead to fortune, and fortune may conceal misfortune. Often, good things can turn into bad, and bad things can turn into good. It all depends on the attitude of the people involved. Learn to accept, be content with what you have, be indifferent to what you lose, and only then can you find the strength to move forward and become a better version of yourself.
