Managing Myself Well in the Rest of My Life

Yang Jiang once said, “Although individuals are tiny and life is short, people can learn, cultivate themselves, and achieve self-improvement.” Despite being small and life being brief, an individual can refine and perfect themselves through self-cultivation. In doing so, one will discover that they can live with increasing clarity, ease, and an enhanced ability to appreciate the present’s beauty and happiness. By mastering the techniques and principles inherent in this process, whatever one does will flow more smoothly, and they will be able to face life more calmly.

Managing One’s Life

Life must be managed with one’s own hands to prosper. This process of improvement cannot be brief but requires sustained perseverance. Someone online once asked, “How does a person waste away?” A highly endorsed response was, “Pretend to work hard, persist in daydreaming, be a giant in words but a dwarf in action, pump oneself up before sleep only to wake up the same as before.

Always feeling young, thinking there is plenty of time, finding various reasons to procrastinate every day, postponing tasks to later, tomorrow, next month, or next year. Seemingly busy every day, but rarely analyzing whether the work done is worthwhile, and seldom making career plans.” Clearly, to live a good life, one must be diligent, focused, and patient in their work. Daydreaming and boasting among others without substantial actions are unreliable. To manage one’s life well, one must be grounded and move forward courageously, growing stronger through adversity. In the process of personal growth, everyone encounters challenges and difficulties, and everyone faces various obstacles. Only by persevering and enduring can one’s life improve.

Yang Jiang once said, “Everyone experiences exceptionally difficult times. The pressures of life, setbacks in work, academic stress, and the anxiety of love can be overwhelming. Overcoming these challenges will lead to enlightenment, but if one cannot, time will teach you how to make peace with them, so there is no need to be afraid.” Efforts to improve oneself should continue regardless of whether life is favorable or challenging. By striving to cultivate a sunny and open-minded attitude, and molding a mature and stable character, one can gradually enhance their abilities and truly make their life better through their actions and efforts.

Managing One’s Attitude

The most valuable thing about people is their unwavering belief that they can cultivate their mindset at any time and in any situation. If one consistently refines their mindset, it will inevitably become stronger. I am fond of a quote by Nan Huaijin: “We all live in practice and practice in life.” In fact, everyone can practice at any time and in any place. However, if someone practices with a confrontational attitude and a resistant mindset, the results are predictable and likely to be unsatisfactory. If one can maintain a calm and peaceful mindset in their practice, their emotions will become more serene, and their mindset will become more flexible. Eventually, they will walk through each day with a lighter step, live more solidly, and feel more satisfied in their life.

Bi Shumin once said, “Anything natural happens slowly. The sun rises and sets gradually. Flowers bloom and petals fall one by one. The ripening of rice is also a slow process. Sudden natural changes often lead to disasters, such as volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, and torrential rain.” Fate lies in a person’s ability to grow and improve through their efforts and, as a result, have a greater probability and possibility of following their chosen path. While managing one’s mindset, strengthening one’s will, refreshing one’s cognition, and enhancing one’s abilities, both material and spiritual aspects of life will become increasingly fulfilling and happy.

Managing One’s Life

Life only happens once, and there are no second chances. Therefore, mature and thoughtful individuals all hope to avoid squandering their lives and wasting their potential. Peter Drucker, the father of modern management, once said, “If life is compared to a business, we are the best managers of our own enterprise.” People should live well, manage their lives with care, and strive to create their own destinies. Throughout this process, one must continually understand, develop, transform, and evolve themselves. In doing so, they will increasingly recognize the kind of person they want to become and willingly work towards embodying that ideal.

As Wang Xiaobo once said, “I want to love, to live, and to treat every moment as if it were a lifetime. Since I exist, no matter what, I must take responsibility for myself.” In the remaining years, please take responsibility seriously and work diligently to manage, shape, and refine yourself. As you become more outstanding, confident, courageous, and capable, it is highly probable that you will live a life that is remarkable and fulfilling, and you will feel proud and content with yourself.
