Benefits of adding Hand Massage

Stress Relief

Hand massage helps stimulate pressure points that will help you relieve tension and soothe your nervous system.

Improved Circulation

This improves blood flow because during a massage movement the blood flow is also being increased. The oxygen and the nutrients get to the muscles and the skin more smoothly than other ways.

Pain Alleviation

Hand massage can make repetitive motions easier and help relieve pain and increase flexibility if you are stiff or in pain.

Skin Nourishment

Moisturizing oils or creams can be used while the hands get massaged to hydrate and make the hands moisturize and healthier and supple.

Emotional Well-Being

This process is actually relaxing the mind, and decreases stress and brings about positive things.

How to Perform a Hand Massage

You don’t need to be a professional to enjoy the benefits of hand massage. Follow these simple steps to incorporate it into your routine:

1. Set the Mood

Dim the lights, put your feet up, play soft music, or use an essential oil diffuser – all raise the dopamine levels. Relaxation oils are lavender and chamomile oil.

2. Choose a Moisturizer or Oil

Using a nourishing hand cream or natural oil, like almond, coconut and jojoba oil can make the massage experience better. These healing benefits can be added by the use of essential oils such as eucalyptus or peppermint.

3. Warm Up Your Hands

Heat yourself by rubbing your hands together. It serves to relax the muscles and prepare your hands to be massaged.

4. Massage the Palms

With your thumb, go around the center of your palm with gentle circular pressure. Beginning gradually, cover the entire palm.

5. Stretch the Fingers

Pulling each finger to the tip from the base, slowly. It stretches the joints and breaks the stiffness.

6. Focus on Pressure Points

Press specific points in your hands with your thumb — for instance, the base of your thumb (a stress reliever) or the center of your palm.

7. Massage the Wrists

Gently rotate your wrists in both directions and give circular motions to the surrounding area.

8. Relaxing Stretch End

Take your hands out and fingers out, keep stretching for a second.

There are always several spare moments when you aren’t paying attention: you’re in a meeting that’s running long, your waiting room is taking longer than expected, etc. Put a small bottle of hand cream in your bag and rub your hands.

Hand Massage for Mindfulness

Mindful hand massage is one that can make you focus on the present moment. Notice how the warmth of your skin, the smell of the oil, the relaxation in your muscles feels, as you massage your hands. Not only does this mindfulness help with the relaxing effects of the massage, it helps clear out mental clutter.
